Counselling & Psychotherapy

What are Counselling & Psychotherapy?

Counselling & psychotherapy offer a way of dealing with current life stressors or problems, whether at home or work, by helping you to develop your own personal skills and strengths.

It is a way for you to learn to help yourself.

What issues can they help with?

  • Depression
  • Anxiety/stress
  • Grief/loss
  • Relationship problems
  • Trauma
  • Low self-esteem
  • Life transitions

How does the counsellor/therapist do this?

  • By listening deeply to and focusing solely on you
  • By helping you to work out how to manage problem situations
  • By working with you to identify the skills you may need to improve and to help you strengthen them
  • By helping you to grow and develop a more positive life philosophy

Which is for you?

Counselling is usually of limited duration and may focus on specific problems.

Psychotherapy is usually a longer process of working through issues which prevent you from achieving what you want in life. In psychotherapy the goal is to understand and change unhelpful longstanding patterns of behaviour, feelings and thoughts to enable you to achieve a more balanced and fulfilled life.
