This type of bodywork draws from the Northern Style Thai Yoga Massage (Nuad Bo Rarn) and Myofascial Release techniques. The session commences on a mat on the floor, where the therapist applies rhythmic pressure to points along the Sen (energy lines similar to Shiatsu), sustained Myofascial Release, and Yoga stretches to complement the work to lengthen tight tissues. By moving muscles through their full range, this increases synovial lubrication within joints, thus relief of stiffness is enjoyed as a primary benefit. The therapist uses their feet, hands, and body weight to apply the stretches. If your aim is to become more flexible, then MyoDynamics is just what you need. Many people report that MyoDynamics is very energising as opposed to the sleepy relaxed state after a relaxation massage. This is believed to be due to freeing of energy along the Sen which restores the balance of "Chi" flow.
The session begins with a consultation where areas of tightness are identified. MyoDynamics is performed with the recipient fully clothed, and it is advisable to wear comfortable loose clothing. It is recommended that the client does not have anything to eat within an hour before the session. Problem areas are addressed within a full routine which aims to loosen up the whole body. The sessions are primarily stretch orientated, so are not indicated for people who are hypermobile or have chronically dislocating joints. It is also strongly recommended that sessions are done in the afternoon rather than the morning, when muscle tissue reaches its optimal state for stretching. The duration of sessions are between 90 minutes (the basic routine) and 2 hours (the routine plus extra focus work on a problem area).
