Jacqui qualified for an ITEC Diploma in Holistic Massage in Waterford, Ireland, in April of 2004. Since moving to Edinburgh later that year, she also qualified to practise Indian Head Massage, Slavic Massage and Thai Foot Massage.
Working as a Massage Therapist since August 2005, Jacqui has built a successful practice in the Stockbridge area and is very happy to now be working from the beautiful treatment rooms at Cleanse.
Jacqui firmly believes in the holistic healing power of massage and considers regular massage to be one of the finest gifts to give oneself. Each treatment will be tailored to the specific requirements of the client.
Slavic Massage is one of the oldest, truest forms of classical massage, developed over hundreds of years from the times of Genghis Khan and the riders of the Golden Horde of the Khanate. This massage evolved through the nurturing care of both humans and horses by those who lived close to nature. A deeply relaxing and hypnotic massage involving gentle stretches, rhythmical, circular, diagonal and figure-of-eight movements, combined with exotic warm oils.
A gentle yet very effective treatment, Indian Head Massage is usually performed as a seated treatment and includes massage of the upper back, neck, shoulders, upper arms, scalp and hair. This treatment is excellent for tiredness or stress related conditions such as insomnia and headaches – Indian Head Massage helps to stimulate the senses & clear the mind.
Incorporating techniques from different styles of massage, including Swedish and Deep Tissue Massage, Therapeutic Massage is a very flexible treatment which can be tailored to the requirements of each client, promoting health and wellbeing. It can be gentle or firm, ranging from a soothing, relaxing treatment to a much deeper massage, targeting specific areas of the body to ease tension and loosen fibrous knots of compacted tissue.
Thai Foot Massage is a massage of the lower legs and feet that originated in Thailand about 2000 years ago and is still taught there by Buddhist monks. Thai Foot Massage involves hands on stretching and massage, along with the use of a special foot stick to stimulate reflex points. A relaxing and refreshing treatment, the benefits of Thai Foot Massage include improved circulation in the legs and feet, a reduction of stiffness and improved flexibility. This treatment is also a great boost to the immune system.
